Our church plant has a name!

As you know, we’ve been working with Josh Kappes as he gets ready to start a church in the Newton-Conover area.  This is our first daughter church at Providence, which makes this a pretty special step for us.  Josh has been thinking and praying about a number of different names for this new church and there was a decision last night at their core team meeting about what it was going to be.  So here is Josh’s announcement and explanation of the name.

Tonight we reached a final decision on the name of our church. I don’t remember exactly when God had laid this on my heart but once it was there it just seemed right. It summarizes who we believe God is calling us to be.

Ok, drum roll please… the name will be Gospel Life Church. We believe strongly that the gospel is not just a story we believe, we get our “get out of hell for free card from Jesus,” and then we move on to being nice moral Christians who don’t do the “sins” that those “other” people do. The GOSPEL is the foundation for everything we are and do. In the Gospel, we help each other find life in Jesus every day of our lives.  This is just another exciting step in what God is doing in our group and I’m so glad I finally get to share it with you.

Praise God for Gospel Life church!  Let’s keep praying for God to do amazing things through this new church.
